Old Art

I drew this for the Victor & Martin submission from 2011. So, it's over three years old. It looks really good. Perspective is hard to draw, but I followed all of the rules on this one.

Learning how to draw horses. They have muscles and bones and it's a whole thing.

Detail Work

It's always amazing what a difference a little detail can make.

Also, I posted the first page of my other comic, Victor and Martin and The Emperor's Treasure over at the Victor and Martin website, www.victorandmartin.com .

Page 3 is Done

Well, it's done in black and white anyway. I'm not going to post the full page here because I want to keep everything moving along, and I feel a false sense of accomplishment if I can look at the full page online. I hope to start posting pages on a regular basis starting in April.

Here is the final panel for page 3. Coloring has not been completed.

Revisions

Page 3 inking revision/clean up. I didn't like the weird depths of the inking. The bottom drawing is the revised version.

Sometimes drawings just work

I started this drawing for one of those Sparklife posts I do, and it just came out really easily and just worked. Sometimes that happens, and you just have to try to grab on.

It's not done yet, I need to finalize the coloring and add the text and word bubbles, but I like how it looks now.

Inking

I'm still working on page 3 and I know that there's going to be a lot of progression as the book goes on in terms of style, but I'm still trying to figure out line widths, for one thing. I was trying to be more variable with the line widths to achieve depth, but I'm not very good at it. It should be like muscles, where contrasting sides are different, and mine always end up weighted weird.

So I ended up redoing one of the panels, with cleaner, more uniform lines. I think I like the result better. For now, anyway.

Page 2 Colored! Page 3 Begins

Hey, it looks pretty okay. Almost ready to be published. Just needs some text.

Click for big.

I've started on page 3. I've made a decision to try to complete a page a week and post them on the website www.thewhitecompanycomic.com in black and white, if that's what it takes. I'll then go back and color them at a later point, when I've got some time.

Here's where I am on page 3 so far.
