The Bell of Beaulieu was Ringing

Working on the first page for The White Company. I'd forgotten how much work completed pages are. Here is an example of a couple hours of work. I was pleased with how this looked:

But here it is with a few more hours worth of work:

You're always trying to make that work show up, but with the least amount of hours of time put in.

Edgar Allen Poe

Here is a drawing I made of Edgar Allen Poe, for a short collection I am working on. It needs to be cleaned up a bit, but I think it turned out pretty nicely.

More Sleepy Hollow drawings

Here is the pathway to town, past Tarrytown.

and here is Ichabod Crane, walking to his school house.

With both drawings I tried to have hints of the Hudson River School style of art. The colors are different because I'm going to have the story transition to autumn when the confrontation with the headless horseman occurs.

Sleepy Hollow Partly Done pt. 2

I am working on another Headless Horseman drawing, this time with his head still on. Here is the draft in two different forms. One of the earlier versions, with the horse in a more standard position...

And the second with a more dramatic angle on the horse. Click either to enlarge.

Legend of Sleepy Hollow drawing

I've been doing a little work doing some Legend of Sleepy Hollow drawings. This is in-progress. Click to see full-size.

update

Below is an update to the last drawing. I modified the colors a bit and added some detail.

Macbeth Act 5 Scene 2

Two lords having a conversation amidst the troops, in both roughest and almost complete forms.

Dan Martin- Tour de France

Dan Martin won today's Stage 9 - Saint-Girons -> Bagnères-de-Bigorre in the Tour de France. I drew this picture to commemorate it because I'm trying to draw more biking. Maybe the next biking picture will be a comic.

I've also been working on a Macbeth adaptation.

Oh, Macbeth, what have you done this time?

Incomplete fight scene.

Freelance Animation for Children

I was hired recently in my capacity as a drawing person who has animating capabilities to make a music video for a lady who is looking to break into the children's music industry with her music. This is that video.

That's a thing I made/animated. Took a bit of work.

Color for Now

I realized I haven't posted on here in a minute or two. All of my free time goes to freelancing work these days, so I haven't had much time to work on the graphic novel. I'll be animating a children's music video for the next week, so there definitely won't be much spare time, but after that, it's back on.

Here are some status updates on pages 2 and 3, though. They are colored, but not lettered yet.

Another Sparklife Post

After teaching myself how to use gifs in that last post, I used that new power on my latest comic for the SparkLife website. I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out.

As for the graphic novel, I am still working on it and some pages are in various states of conclusion. I am getting a new computer next week that should make coloring faster/better. I'll post something soon, though.

Sodlier Sketches

Here are some sketches of soldiers that I made into gifs because I find the process of inking and developing drawings fascinating. You can click on the images to see larger versions.

Freelance work for SparkLife

I've been making some extra cash on the side by doing some freelance work for SparkLife, which is the social/news portion of the website for SparkNotes, which is basically Cliff Notes. It's all run by Barnes & Noble, which is how I end up getting paid for the whole thing. Anyway, my most recent comic slideshow thing is up here.

Page 2 - Victor and Martin Emperor's Treasure sketch

I had planned to post a new page every week, but my father passed away on January 9th and there was a lot to attend to regarding that, not the least of which being that it really bummed me out. I'm working on Page 2, and will get back on my previously-planned schedule of 52 pages (at least) this year, but for now I'm playing catch-up. In the meantime, here's a partially-completed first panel sketch of page 2.

Victor and Martin: The Hunt for the Emperor's Treasure

Page 1. I'm going to try to produce one new page per week. I'll get my own website up, or back up, in a little while, but I'll be posting the pages here for now.
